Hi there, this is my very sweet kitty Apollo. He's almost 2 years old and currently has a very obstructed bladder. First and foremost, he has been admitted to the ER for treatment and is currently being monitored for 24 hours. He is on sedation and has a catheter in to move fluid and crystals out of his bladder.

On September 19th, in the afternoon I noticed Apollo straining to pee, he seemed uncomfortable and frantic. I know how serious it can be when a cat cannot urinate and I took him to the ER that day. His bladder was empty but after an ultrasound they confirmed he had crystals built up, described his bladder as a "Snow Globe". He was sent home with me 9/19/26 with medication and a prescription for some Urinary tract friendly food. The hope was that with the medication his bladder would relax enough for him to urinate. Unfortunately while he was attempting to pee, he couldn't. Apollo was brought back into the ER on September 20th, with a full and blocked bladder. He was then admitted for 24 hours. The hope is that they'll be able to get enough fluids in him to empty the crystals out of his bladder.

Update from Vet #1: While trying to sedate Apollo they found his blood vessels to be very fragile. One of which ruptured and caused the medication to go under his skin. They contacted poison control and he will be okay. He's being monitored closely and are providing sedation in another way and fluids are being administered under his skin to keep him hydrated and bladder moving. He is expelling pee mixed with blood with the help of the catheter.

Update from Vet #2: They tried his veins again, to no avail and are continuing alternate methods of delivering meds/fluids. He is resting "comfortably" "angerly" as the vet put it. His pee still has blood but has lightened some. He seems to be on track as of now.

I will have Pet Insurance via my employer, but unfortunately all my workplace benefits are not active until Oct 1st. It's just really unfortunate timing.
