Apollo's Hip Surgery (Hit & Run victim)

Donation protected
Last Thursday, Apollo and I were walking down our neighborhood when a speeding car ran him over. We were on our normal afternoon walk, taking the same route we have crossed many nights before. I saw the minivan turning the corner way too fast and was almost able to carry him away when he panicked, jumping away from my arms. I fell back and watched as the car ran over his hind leg and sped away.

Thanks to the amazing vets at City of Angels, Apollo was able to get the urgent care he needed. He was kept in intensive care overnight, had his bloodwork done, and had his body x-rayed. Miraculously, Apollo had no internal damage to his organs. Friday morning, I was told he would need hip surgery and weeks of rest to make a full recovery--perhaps he would even need a few more overnight stays at the hospital. Having already paid $3,000 to keep him in their care the first night, I knew I would not be able to pay ongoing costs without a loan or the use of a credit card my friends so generously offered to let me put the bills on.

So, with the green light from Apollo's vet, a friend and I transported him to our emergency care vet in Tijuana, Mexico. There he is receiving the best care, with 24hr supervision. He is scheduled for his first procedure Monday and will remain in intensive care for at least a week before the vet clears him to be transported back home. Thankfully, he is expected to fully recover in just over a month's time.

Apollo is my first baby. He is a joy to be around, and there is nothing more I want than to see him running and chasing after his toys again.

As a third-year law student, funds are a bit tight right now. I was able to pull from my current loans and savings to pay for his care, as it needed to be paid upfront. As of today, it is expected that I will need to pay another 1-2 thousand more for his immediate care. Being able to raise even a portion of these funds would allow me to provide Apollo with any ongoing treatment and pay for any physical therapy he may need.

I know it is a hard time for many of us, and I really do find it difficult asking for help, but this is for Apollo. We would be eternally grateful for your help during this tough time, and ask that you please share this fundraiser if you can.

One day soon, we hope to be in a position to pay forward your generosity.

Thank you,
