Hi! This is Apollo & his story.
Apollo is much more than his cancer story, he just had his 7th birthday in November! He LOVES car rides, pretending to be a lap dog, playing rope & keep away, pup cups, cheese (& quite literally any food), cuddling, butt scratches, squeaky toys & being the best boy.

On New Year’s Eve, 12/31/25 we took Apollo into the ER because he was being far from his normal happy, energetic, playful self out of no where. We found out he had unaware tumors growing on his spleen & they had ruptured, hence why he wasn’t being himself. He had free fluid & blood everywhere it wasn’t supposed to be. The vet told us it is more than likely cancer, he told us there’s a 60% chance it was but we wouldn’t know without surgery & testing. Our options were surgery or euthanasia… even if our chances were it being 99% cancer, we absolutely had no doubt we wanted to go with surgery. Hes my husbands soul dog & the best boy a family could ask for.
Apollo went into surgery right away & he had his spleen & tumors removed! His tumors were sent away to be tested & a week later we got the worst news. It in fact was cancer. He was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma. Hemangiosarcoma is the most aggressive form of cancer a dog can get unfortunately. But luckily it was on a removable organ. The vet gave him 1-2 months to live.
We were referred to VCA for Oncology. We wanted to know if his cancer has spread to other parts of his body but unfortunately we couldn’t know unless it created another tumor. Our next option was chemo therapy. We talked about the benefits & how it could help him live a longer life. They told us it could extended to 4-6 months or even sometimes they see a year or 2! We will take all of the time we can get with him so that’s the route we took! He’s only 7! He deserves a longer life, as all dogs do. So on January 15th, we went straight into his first round of blood work & chemo! He did so good! For now, he will have 5 rounds of chemo therapy, once every three weeks! He currently just got done with his second one today (2/05/26). 3 more to go!
If you would like to help donate to Apollos medical, everything is so appreciated. Even if you can just donate prayers & more prayers for our sweet boy!!
