Apollo’s communication (Assistive Technology)
Donation protected
Hi, Chrystal here ☺️
As we all know, Apollo was diagnosed with severe Autism last year in September.
He is non verbal and the words he does learn he regresses so fast and the words just never come back
He was in ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) from 2 years old to 3 and has attended Special education Pre-K.
He is supposed to be in speech therapy but with his Medicaid the waitlist to get a therapist is 3-5 years.
Also for Medicaid to cover the device requires Apollo to be in speech therapy and get a referral.
Its a Catch-22 and not a fun one.
He was recommended for Assistive Technology by his school.
An AAC device can be used for people with disabilities who struggle to communicate.
I am asking for anyone’s help to get Apollo a speech tablet.
Apollo’s biggest disconnect with anyone is his speech and this will allow not only myself but his school and others to be able to communicate with him.
It can be extremely difficult for a child with Autism to express themselves which can cause emotional breakdowns.
I am doing my best to connect myself and others with Apollo better, so the frustration of not being understood can dissipate.
Please do not feel the need to donate if you are not in a great situation.
A share, or even a dollar means a lot to us.
It’s not easy to come here and ask for help but I have to think about Apollo and not my pride in these situations.
I love you all and thank you for taking the time to read this
