Apollo’s cancer surgery and recovery
Donation protected
Hi all, I wanted to put together this fundraiser to help Julie with costs associated with Apollo’s tumor removal and recovery.
a little backstory on Apollo… he was born in Colorado and started his life with Aaron. Living situations changed and he found him what he thought was fabulous forever home with a fellow Veteran. Fast forward 5 years and we’re on the brink of covid shut downs in Feb 2020 and Aaron gets a call from the San Diego humane society and they had just received Apollo as a surrender and his chip was still registered to Aaron. We worked all day with my rescue connections and friends back home and was able to get him a ride out of doggie jail the next day from Megan Silverman. From there he went to stay with Sheila Budd until Julie came back from a trip and she was to keep him until we could get out to Ca to pick him up. THEN Covid lockdowns hit and we wouldn’t be able to fly out there and we started coming up with a plan to drive out and meet Julie in Vegas and THEN Aaron and I found out we were pregnant. We talked to Julie and she was happy to have a buddy to get her outside walking and to keep her company while her work had shut down and it was super healing to have a dog in the house again after loosing Kahlua the year prior. Mother’s Day weekend came and Aaron flew out to CA to tell my mom she was going to be a grandmother and the plan was to rent a car and drive Apollo back to Colorado but once he got there he knew Apollo was right where he needed to be. Julie was already thinking the same thing and asked to keep him and the rest is history. Apollo and Julie found each other when they needed each other the most and since then have created the best life full of beach days, beers on HB patios, pack walks and Apollo tagging along on girls trips and my favorite, being the best uncle dog to his special Bella.
This surgery came out of right field and quickly as he was taken in 2 weeks ago to have a lump biopsied and is having surgery this Wednesday 3/15/23.
It was discovered that a growth on Apollo’s side is a mast cell tumor and it needs to be removed before his oncologist can determine what level of cancer it. The mass is currently measuring at 1.5 so they need to take the circumference and depth equal to that but could be greater when they get in there. Due to how invasive the surgery will be he will need to be hospitalized for recovery.
We would appreciate any help as we need to make sure Apollo gets home to his momma as soon as possible and has a long life ahead of him ❤️
