[I have updated the title, please read the latest update below for more information. I'm going to keep this original story below for full context. Thank you for reading.]

Hello!
My name is Molly & I am raising funds for my ferret Apollo.
Apollo was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma, and unfortunately chemotherapy treatment could be upwards of $4k for this, depending on number of treatments needed.
I have not had a job since my car was totaled back in July of 2024, which is when I was driving for LYFT. I have been applying to any Work-From-Home data analyst & data entry clerk roles I come across, but none have gotten back to me so far.
He lost a substantial amount of weight just within a month (30%) due to the Lymphoma causing him pain, nausea, & other discomforts which is why it's so urgent to start him on a treatment plan before he gets any worse.

The funds will be used for all of Apollo's upcoming vet visits, chemotherapy treatments, & medications!

Apollo, and his sister Artemis, are my babies & I want to do everything I can to make sure they are at their happiest & healthiest!

The vet at the University Vet Hospital consulted with their oncologist & discussed some of the treatment options with me & their outcomes. Nothing will "cure" his Lymphoma, unfortunately vet medicine hasn't cracked that one yet, but it will allow him more time with his sister & me, plus a much better quality of life!

I want to be able to go ahead with the best option for him, which is IV chemotherapy treatments. He will need to get a semi-permanent IV port installed so that it is as easy & stress-free as possible for him with every treatment, where the vet can simply hook the IV up to the port without having to sedate & stab him every time. This treatment, if all goes well, should give him another couple years & increase his quality of life!
There is another, slightly less expensive treatment, but it's also a chemotherapy medication (oral) & doesn't have as much of a life expectancy as the IV treatments.

Apollo is currently being treated for Adrenal Disease & Insulinoma, so he has some compounding issues, but the vets seem confident that at the very least the chemotherapy will quiet down his Lymphoma so he won't be in as much pain or nausea. He has been receiving a medical sub-dermal implant for Adrenal Disease for a few years now, so that has been managed as well as possible, & he is currently on a medication to control his insulin over-production to help make sure his blood glucose doesn't crash. Those two issues are being handled to the best of the vets ability, but the Lymphoma came on fast & hard, so treating that is the top priority. It causes lymph nodes in various parts of his body to be inflamed, which causes pains / nausea / and appetite being lowered, which has contributed to his drastic weight loss. Just a month between appointments he lost 30% of his weight, which was very shocking as he has always been a chunky boy!
He got IV & subcutaneous fluids when I brought him into the ER + Critical Care Carnivore to help him feel better and start gaining weight back, and he really loved the food! It's a powdered food mix that is high in protein & all the things ferrets need, reconstituted with water, so it also helps him stay hydrated as well! The vet also started him on a low dose of a steroid to help with some of that Lymphoma inflammation until a better treatment is started, as well as an anti-nausea medicine, both of those have been helping him be more himself just over the span of a few days!!
Because those few things have had him bounce back so well, I have confidence that treating this Lymphoma with something stronger will really turn him around! Obviously, there are side-effects with chemotherapy, but I think the good he will feel will vastly outweigh bad!

I have set the initial goal to $3500, which if reached, should cover most (if not all) of the treatment costs. Again, it depends on the number of treatments they feel like he needs.
If that does well, getting close to/is reached, I may raise the goal to $5000 just to make sure the treatment is absolutely covered + being able to pay off some of the credit card debt that has come from some of these recent vet visits for Apollo. The last few were at least $1200 each for visit+bloodwork+ultrasounds and other things, plus an ER fee for one of them.

Currently the only thing I have for income is donating plasma, which only gets me a maximum of $400 per month, so any donations & sharing this around is immensely appreciated!!

Why THIS Treatment, Why THIS goal amount?
  • The IV chemotherapy has the best prognosis for extending his life in both quality & time
  • I can tell that he is trying to get better & the steroid that is helping to calm the inflammation of his Lymphoma is really helping him to be more like himself
  • If the steroid/meds + fluids + special food did not change how he acted, where he still seemed like tired and "done", I would be looking into palliative care....but he is definitely not giving up!
  • I set the goal to $3500 because I didn't want to set it too intimidatingly high. I'm not sure if that's the right call, as I have never done this before, but it's what feels best for right now
  • Potentially increasing the goal later would only happen if it seems like the original goal is going to be met/exceeded, just to add some extra buffer for follow-up visits & tests, or if I have a proof of invoice that it definitely WILL cost more than $3500
  • I have probably already added close to $5k on my credit card since the end of last year due to vet visits for both Artemis & Apollo, plus their food/litter & meds. I will do my best to find those invoices to prove that + any future treatment invoices so that I can show everything

Why a Work-From-Home job & NOT anything else/retail/etc?
  • I have taken online certificate courses for data analytics & I am trying to get my foot in the door to start a career in this!
  • Due to Apollo needing extra attention to make sure he eats & drinks regularly (at least for now), working from home is the best option for me to be able to keep up with this
  • Whenever he starts his chemotherapy treatments, I don't know how often or what days it will need to happen on, so working from home will be more flexible to schedule around. Plus I could potentially take my laptop to the vet hospital & do some work while he is getting his treatments
  • I have a few disabilities that would make working a "normal" job difficult. On top of having Anxiety & highly suspected ADHD, I also have Degenerative Disc Disease at the vertebrates where I had a herniated disc 5+ years ago. My lower back can flare up, causing tension & pain as well as sciatica symptoms, when bending/lifting/crouching/standing for long periods & repetitive actions like sweeping/mopping & other things.

Thank you for reading all of this, please please pleeeaasssse share wherever you can, and donate if you are able! Please take care of yourself & your furbabies 1st though! ✨
