Aplastic Anemia fundraising walk
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of The Aplastic Anaemia Trust and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Back on the 28th Febuary 2021 my Severe Aplastic Amemia journey began.
Spending 24 weeks in Hospital fighting for my life. For the first part of my hospital stay I spent receiving endless transfusions of blood and platlets.
In the April whilst at Blackpool Hospital I had my spleen removed to slow my bodies reaction of killing of all transfusions that I was receiving it was around about that time It was decided that I was battling Severe Aplastic Anemia ( complete bone marrow failure) my body had no way of producing new blood, I was relying on transfusions.
This is when the search for a Bone Marrow donor began.
My siblings were no matches they were willing and I thank them for trying.
Luckily a match wasn't a perfect match but the team said I had no other option.
On the 7th July 2021 I underwent a week of conditioning chemo therapy and full body radiation in Manchester Royal and Christies.
The Teams were amazing I was looked after and nursed fantastically
On the 14th July I was lucky to receive my liquid gold ( stem cell transplant)
It's been a long journey and one with plenty of late effects. Each hurdle has been looked after by my wonderful Bone marrow team at Manchester.
Almost at my 4th Rebirthday I am going to attempt an 8 mile walk with my Dogs and plenty of others that have been through similar journeys.
Please donate to this wonderful cause as I would not be here if it wasn't for the research that the Aplastic Anemia Trust did.
More information about The Aplastic Anaemia Trust: We are the only charity in the UK dedicated supporting people with aplastic anaemia, a rare form of bone marrow failure. We also fund research into aplastic anaemia and allied rare bone marrow failures.
Give generously to give people with this rare condition a better chance.
