In Memory of Kathy Jo Tatum
Donation protected
On the evening of September 24th, 2020 our beloved Kathy passed away. Everyone who met Kathy had the pleasure of getting to know her unique personality. Down to earth, heard-headed, caring, passionate and strong-willed. Kathy was a dedicated mother, daughter and friend who will be greatly missed.
In honor of her passing, our family is asking for donations in order to improve awareness, testing, treatment and research for Secondary HLH.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is a rare disease that effects the immune system. It is estimated that there are 1.2 cases per 1,000,000 individuals per year. Often times, like in Kathy’s case, a diagnosis through a bone marrow biopsy does not occur until emergency hospitalization. Due to a late diagnosis, many people often lose their battle with this disease. Current treatments include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and steroids which has been protocol since 2004.
All proceeds will be donated to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) in order to improve research for secondary HLH.
Kathy is survived by her son, mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, sisters, nieces, nephew and countless friends.
