Support Bradley's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
My son, Bradley (23), suffered a medical event on November 26, 2024, that left him to be without oxygen for approximately 55 minutes. He went into cardiac arrest and respiratory failure. He was on a ventilator for 5 days. When he came off the ventilator, he was jerking all over, and it became evident that he had a brain injury. He was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury, from no oxygen, that has caused a rare condition called Lance Adams Syndrome. His body jerks, and it becomes worse with movement, myoclonic jerks. His walking, speech, and ability to carry on independent activities are greatly affected. Due to the brain injury, he has also suffered cognitive impairment. Since this is such a rare condition, there is not a neurologist that specializes in it. He has been seeing a neurologist in Charlotte; he is a wonderful doctor but has never treated a patient with Lance Adams Syndrome. He has an appointment to go to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, his appointment is June 6, 2025. There are a couple of doctors there that are more familiar with this rare condition. I am asking for any donation, a small one would help greatly to get him there, to cover the travel expenses. The doctors say the first year his treatment will make the most impact on his future. An unexpected medical event is something that we were not prepared for. I am a mother trying to get him the opportunity for the best treatment that will improve his quality of life and give him independence so he can manage daily living activities. Thank you, and please share this story.
