Climbing Snowdon!- The Sick Children's Trust
On 11th May, myself , Jayne Coffey, Kim Coffey, Hattie Coffey and Mark Oxley will be climbing Mount Snowden in the hope to raise money in aid of The Sick Children's Trust.
This amazing charity provides free accommodation to help parents stay by the side of their child when they are being treated for serious illnesses.
As most of you may know, our youngest daughter was born with Sepsis, Nmuemonia and newborn respitory disorder syndrome in June 2023 and after a day in Pinderfields, we were blue lighted to LGI where she remained on ventilation for 8 days.
As a mother I cannot describe the fear, exhaustion and trauma this caused for what seamed to be an eternity.
But what I will be forever grateful for, is The sick Children's trust who allowed me and my husband to never leave my baby's side and enabled our other daughters to come see us in a happy, homley environment.
Unfortunalty though, the charity relies purely on donations to and theyre arent always enough rooms available.
As LGI NICU do not have parent beds, whilst on the waiting list for a room at Eckersley House, for the first 4 nights we stayed in the bereavement room on the ward and showered in the disabled toilets ( which was broken and ice cold).
After recieving accomadation from the sick children's trust I cannot express how grateful I was for a hot shower, an actual bed, a phone directly to my daughter's ward, and somewhere for our oldest children to come see their mum and dad as we were terrified of leaving our baby.
Any donation would be much appreciated and I personally know how much it can make a difference. I never knew this charity existed and I am so grateful that it did when we needed it most.
