Katie update:
Last week Katie spent last week in MUSC and after three units of blood, many scans, and many changes to her medications to try and control pain they sent her home to follow up with her oncologists this week. Yesterday, we heard the news that we have been wishing we wouldn’t have to hear. The cancer has spread so much, even with all the treatments she has tried, that there is nothing else they can do but try and control her pain. Her spine has been affected a lot by this new spread and she is losing the ability to walk. The brain cancer is affecting her speech and thought process. Seeing her in the amount of pain she is in is absolutely heartbreaking. Radiation oncologist is scheduling her some radiation for the upcoming weeks to try and control some of the pain but said it will not extend her life. We are still praying for a miracle but like Katie said yesterday God is good no matter what the outcome is. They will be in Charleston for a while and need all the help they can get. Palliative care is also signing on to help manage her pain. They are making sure to stay at the places with the cheapest deals since Hope Lodge is closed due to Covid19. Any help is greatly appreciated for their stay, gas, and food. You guys have gotten us through so many hard times and we will never be able to thank you enough. We love you all! We will update as we get more information in the coming weeks.
