Hi ya'll! My name is Billie Krishawn, I'm an actor, advocate and single mom based in DC. On Saturday, March 23rd my basement apartment in SE was flooded due to a draining issue in the walkway leading into my apartment.

I was startled by a random quick rush of water coming from the front door that quickly spread through the apartment. When I opened the door to investigate the source I was met with a little more than a foot of water covering the entire walkway. The water that continued to pour in is what moved through my apartment. I reached out to my landlord/property managers through the weekend via phone, voicemail, text message and email but was ignored until finally receiving a short response two and a half days later. Finally they sent someone to look at the drain but refuse to respond to my messages regarding the flooding that was inside of the apartment.

Their treatment as has been awful since I moved in back in November which is what led me to seek alternate housing which thankfully I'll be moving to in April. However, with the recent flooding and their lack of response to the situation the need to relocate is more pressing.
