Apartment Fire Devastates Family

Donation protected
Friday night June 8 2018, my son and his family were devastated by a fire in their apartment. The apartment is uninhabitable leaving them homeless and with just the clothes on their backs. Fortunately they were not home at the time and they are still with us which truly is what matters more than anything else. The fire department was able to rescue the children’s two cats, and though one of them was in rough shape and they were both rushed to the emergency vet by animal control, they are with a family member now and improving. The Red Cross gave them a gift card to get a motel room and some clothing and food to help them through the weekend. Family, friends, and even strangers have reached out with offers to help any way they can and have offered many of the things they will need once they get a new place to live. Right now that is step one. In the meantime they still need a place to sleep, eat, shower etc. For a family of 5 that is really expensive. Especially when you have no money because you just spent 500 on groceries that of course went up in flames. It is all so overwhelming. I know I set the goal amount very high, but it’s just a random number. When I really started looking around at all the things that are everyday necessities in my home, and that we all take for granted, I was astonished at what it would cost to replace them. So that is why I set it at 5k. Please help if you can. Every penny really does count. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart
