Hello, my name is Jason Hutchens (Coach Hutch), and I am the new Head Baseball Coach at Apache Junction High School. As an alumnus of AJHS, I am very proud to return to the field I played on and coach the kids in the community where I was raised. We need some help though...
Once upon a time, our varsity baseball field voted the best field in the state. Our program was successful; it gave the kids and the community a source of pride. We are currently down a bit from where we once were, but I hope to turn that around. We have many needs and almost no money for our program. Our scoreboard has not worked in over two years (it is so old that parts to fix it, and a qualified repairman no longer exists). Our infield was laser leveled, and it is 1-3" low in spots, so we need dirt, and we lack the tools to maintain it other than a few rakes. Our uniform situation is grim. I have not found enough of any one uniform color to even outfit a starting 9, much less 2 full teams (varsity and JV). The oleanders that are so beautiful and line our outfield fence are overgrown through the fence into our field, creating an unsafe playing field. Our batting turtle, L-screens, and batting cage nets are worn out and full of holes. Our sound system for announcing games has not worked in over a decade. We don't even have the basic necessities, such as a safe set of catchers gear or batting helmets.
I am asking for help, please. 100% of funds raised will go toward the field and the kids. I am more than happy to provide receipt proof of expenditures to anyone at any time. We need a new scoreboard, a new PA sound system, uniforms, dirt for the infield, a drag/bunker rake, mound and plate tarps, a cage net, L-Screens, a serious trim of our oleanders, catchers gear, batting helmets, and even baseballs. Any small amount you are willing to help with will go a very long way to bringing our program back to where it should be. I think you for your consideration and for at least reading through this! God bless you!
