Governor Desantis’ decision yesterday to exclude gyms in the initial phase of re-opening the State was a huge disappointment to many of us and to you as well. Despite the Federal Government’s suggestion that Fitness Facilities be included in phase 1, Florida’s Governor DeSantis decided that fitness and health are not essential at this moment, so we remain closed for now. Our gym - Your Club - has now been shut down for 6 weeks and billing stoped 4 weeks ago. Despite all this we have continuously invested in the Club with over $5,000 of new equipment coming in last month alone, refreshed paint, re-positioning of equipment to ensure Social Distancing measures could be guaranteed upon re-opening, and have been constantly and persistently cleaning of all equipment and floors. We have not curbed spending but on the contrary increased spending to ensure an even better - and safer - experience for our community and members when the time comes to re-open, which he had no idea would be for this long. We have remained very much tied in with our community and we remain at the disposal of any and all members who may need guidance and assistance during this difficult moment.
We know that our members, as an active gym goers now faced with "home imprisonment" know the importance of keeping our bodies fit. Whether through cardio sessions, strength training or just a good old "workout", we know how important the club is to you, as you are to us.
Health and fitness cannot be taken away from us by our governor, nor by anyone else for that matter. It is our right as individuals living in a democracy. We hope / wish / pray that this right is restored to us in the near future.
Although we are part of a large franchise group, Anytime Fitness Ormond Beach is a locally owned and operated business. When we purchased the club last year it was our dream come true, to bring our knowledge of fitness, health and diet to the community. All of you have seen the changes and we are so happy when Members tell us how happy they are! It makes what has been very hard work, WORTH IT.
We have not spared a single dime in bringing the club up to speed with the 21st century, but now, alas, the time has come for us to humbly seek your help in anyway possible.
We are looking to raise $10,000 to keep our business alive and our fantastic Team in place until we are permitted to re-open. To date, we have not received any assistance from the programs that are splashed all over the news. Should that change, we can guarantee that all dollars raised here will be used exclusively on MORE club upgrades.
As we have no intention of shutting down and plan to remain as an integral part of the community for a long, long time, any contribution will be greatly appreciated and definitely remembered. Any and all contributions will make a difference to the survival of your club.
If, however, you are facing financial difficulties, as many are, we totally understand of course. We wish for everyone to come through this stronger even though we have all faced a massive challenge here.
These are difficult times for everyone. We look forward to the end of all this and to seeing the club back in full operation, bringing health and fitness back to a community that desperately needs it.
