On the night of June 19th, our brother John was leaving work on his moped when he was struck by a pick up truck and was thrown to the asphalt.
First responders arrived at the scene and he was transported to MUSC in downtown Charleston, SC. While there, after multiple tests and X-rays he and my father were told that he has three fractured vertebrae in his lower back.
On his first day he wasn’t able to walk more than ten steps while also being supported by a walker and our father. He will be in a back brace for the minimum of the next three to four months while he undergoes physical therapy.
Together my sister Christie, and myself are starting this campaign to try and offset what he will have to endure as best we can. He will most likely not be able to work for quite some time, and will therefore not be able to keep up with his rent or any bills and could risk being evicted because of it.
There will likely also be thousands of dollars in medical bills to pay for with him being uninsured like so many of us who work in the food and beverage community. His scooter is also totaled and now he has no means of transportation.
Anything any of us reading this can do to help him literally try and get back on his feet would truly be a blessing. Please share far and wide, Godspeed and God bless!
