I am Ahny's great aunt, Judy. My niece Sarah and Anyer are Ahny's parents. Anyer (pronounced (Ahnjer) came to the US seeking asylum. He has been living here legally for a few years. He and Sarah married last year. He went to school to become an electrician and Sarah is an elementary school teacher. Anyer has followed all of the rules the US puts out there for seeking green card status.
Yesterday, at a required check-in, he was detained. My heart has been aching for all the before ours who have had this injustice laid upon them. Now, as it has hit my family directly, it is a deeper level of pain, fear of what is to come, and anger at our system. It took two incomes to afford the cost of renting, daycare, and living paycheck to paycheck. My family is hurting, but this beautiful family of three is now desperate for any help they can get. I am not usually an asked of this kind of help. I prefer to give to those in more need. But, here we are. My family is now in desperate need, and I am asking anyone who is able to help, to please do so. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
