I recently got accepted to a masters program in the university of Amsterdam called Medical anthropology and sociology which I really liked! It's only a one year program and i was really hoping to upgrade my knowledge of social theory and qualitative research. I'm not a very theoretical/academic person - rather an activist and activist researcher, but I stared to suffer from  this lack of perspective and need to refresh and widen my view on drug policy activism. I will greatly miss Moscow and my work on fighting AIDS and reforming drug policy with the great Andrey Rylkov foundation but I feel this need for an upgrade of my knowledge.

I'm going with my daughter so will have to arrange her school as well, and while i have saved some money, I will need to find more. Unfortunately I didn't receive the tuition scholarship from the University of Amsterdam and friends suggested to try this support campaign to help me fundraise for tuition which is 12k Euro. So now, I'm applying for this People Scholarship and I hope you can support me!! I find it an amazing social experiment that can inspire other people to pursue their dreams!

For those of you who don't know me, my work is focused on drug policy reform and human rights and all problems related to drug policy. We work in one of the most challenging policy enviroments in the world - Russias drug policy is very severe and attitude to health epidemis such as HIV is negligient.

Our foundation fights for access to HIV prevention and treatment, for human rights, and provides life-serving harm reduction services for people who use drugs in Moscow. Our aim is to prevent HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, overdose deaths and other harmful consequences of inhumane drug policy in our country. You can read more about our work at www.rylkov-fond.org

I am the founder of Andrey Rylkov Foundation and very happy and proud that we have a great team of corageous people who are ready to fight for health and human rights despite the government neglect and oftentimes opposition.

Some recent highlight of our work from the BBC: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-32792830

And the Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/24/putin-hiv-epidemic-moscow

So you can learn more about what i do and the challenging environment we work in.

I have also been actively involved in research work in my field and have authored and co-authored around 20 academic publications (pls check here https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Anya_Sarang) but i dont have a sociological background and thats why i believe the year of study will be very beneficial for me!

thank you guys you are the best <33
