I am so grateful to everyone who helped me last year. Things have been better, but there are issues like getting consistent care for Johnny. The fact that Johnny needs someone with him all the time limits my work hours. I haven’t yet been able to put anything into savings after the pandemic. So, while at least not getting further behind, not being prepared for an emergency has punched me in the face.
The car I bought in 2023 is now in the shop. In the early morning a couple of weeks ago, I hit a signpost left in the road, lost control, and crashed into the curb hard enough to do some damage. The police had my car towed like buzzards, not allowing me to wait for my auto service. So, between the tow and impound, I was $700 in the hole before the estimators even saw the car. The police did not let me take pictures of the car in situ, so there is no chance of restitution from the city.
Maybe the recent course of my life is making me paranoid, but it felt like the police were trying to cover up for the sign left in the road.
The insurance company is fighting me over every nickel and dime; my car isn’t finished; and my rental is about to time out. There’s no bus to take, and Ubers cost even more than the rental.
I’m working hard, and need to get through the next seven weeks. A little from many people will get me to June. I just need to get through this current crisis.
Any hand held out belongs to a hero.
Thank you.
