We only got to spend a small amount of time with Mr. Singh-Luth, but his impact on us will last the rest of our lives. Because we knew Mr. Singh-Luth, we are better people.

Mr. Singh-Luth started his education career with the after school PRIDE program through the

Boys & Girls Club, and later went on to become a teacher in the Westminster School District.

He was a teacher who made learning fun, and who got students excited about learning without them even realizing it. He was the funny teacher with the loud voice, the magnetic personality, and the seemingly endless energy. Students looked forward to going to his class. For some students, he was their idol.  He was the kind of teacher who told kids to write their own Dad jokes for an assignment. The kind of teacher who went to a midnight showing of the latest Avengers movie and then threatened to give away spoilers the next day if assignments didn’t get done. The kind of teacher that made a WWE style wrestling belt for champion readers in his class to hold aloft in victory, and then sent photos of those kids to all of their other teachers.

And Mr. Singh-Luth didn’t only make an impact in the classroom! He participated in PTSA and PAL

fundraisers and organized a Color Run. He taught AVID, took students on field trips, and got middle school students connected to a class at Golden West College. He convinced a math class to donate the profits they earned from the Math Market at Open House to a special education class instead of throwing a party. He put together a Yearbook. He performed in the Talent Show, and he helped teach ukulele to the Strings & Things Club. He coached sports and held his student athletes to high standards, making it clear they were students

first and that he demanded good grades as well as skills on the field. He volunteered to sit in a Dunk Tank to celebrate student success!

Connecting with others and supporting them was what was most important to Mr. Singh-Luth. If someone was in need, he wanted to help.

We wish we could have gotten to spend more time with Mr. Singh-Luth, but we will carry his memory in our hearts and try to care for each other the way he cared for us.

Mr. Singh-Luth was a rockin’ teacher and a rad dad; anyone who knew him would agree that Anvi won the dad lottery. “He loved that girl beyond words, the way he talked about her”-David Sousa. The sudden loss of our always-lovable, talented, devoted Mr. Singh-Luth leaves a giant hole in all the family, friends, musicians, teachers, and students who knew him.  A source of positive energy that could not be drained, you knew Mr. Singh-Luth was on your side from the moment he met you.  Our hearts go out to his awesome family, especially Mr. Singh-Luth’s loving wife, Shawta and their precious 10-month-old baby girl, Anvi. This fund, of course, can’t fill his shoes, can’t fill in the cracks left in his wake. Nothing can, not really, but we’d like to honor him by taking care of those he cherished in his stead. Please help us honor Mr. Singh-Luth by giving whatever you can spare so that we can create a college fund for Anvi.
