Anudeep Gupta, 39, started feeling symptoms of Covid-19 in mid-April.  In fact, the entire family had contracted the illness including his two young children, wife, and mother.  However, while the rest of the family slowly started to feel better, Anudeep's condition worsened.   He began to feel weak and had a temperature over 103.  Things progressively worsened in the next week.  Breathing quickly became difficult.  
Given the healthcare system was overrun by Covid-19 victims the family was doing their very best to care for Anudeep at home.  Medical supplies including oxygen were hard to come by.  
Anudeep's oxygen saturation levels were dropping by the day and it became apparent that Anudeep needed to be hospitalized.  The family called hospitals all over the Delhi area trying to find an open bed for him.  It took 3 days to locate a possible bed opening but they had to act fast.  Ambulance services were difficult to reach, either their phones were off or no answer.  It took hours to arrive and felt like even longer to get him to the hospital. 
 Anudeep was finally admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on April 28th, 2021 and has remained hospitalized to this day.  He is still fully supported by oxygen.  
To make matters worse, the hospital is nearly always out of medicine and the prescriptions Anudeep requires and the family is constantly on the physical search for his medical supplies.  Medical supplies are currently 8-100x the normal cost!
Anudeep we thought was making some progress and finally was able to have some broth, but then the family's fears grew as a new scan showed signs of Black Fungal Infection in his sinuses.  This has a 50% mortality rate on already an extremely fragile body.  More medications are required and again the hospital is having difficulty providing them so they are required to procure elsewhere.
Sadly, Anudeep has a long road to recovery ahead of him and will remain in the hospital for several weeks to months according to doctors.
To date, the hospital bills and medical supplies have already racked up over $20,000 USD and will double or even triple based on his projected stay in the hospital.  Insurance is only covering a small portion. Additionally, even once Anudeep returns home, he likely will have several months in rehabilitation before he can even consider going back to work.
Anudeep is currently the sole provider for his family of 4 and the cost for recovery is overwhelming.
