Antonio's Fight Against Covid & Medical Expenses

I'm sharing this because many of you are concerned about my father Antonios health and well being. On Thursday March 18th my father was informed that he had been in contact with a peer who tested positive for COVID-19 he quickly went to get tested we waited for results, the next day we received his results he tested NEGATIVE we were all relieved not knowing the worse was to come. That following weekend he woke up with body aches, fever, and headaches we thought nothing of it since his results were negative we figured a common cold, Monday morning came along and he had a high temperature of 102.6 that's when things escalated we quickly made an appointment to get him seen by a Dr. he was showing all COVID-19 symptoms so they recommended he get re-tested. Tuesday morning my dad went to the testing site to get re-tested we waited for results, wednesday morning came and we received his results he was indeed POSITIVE.
We followed CDC guidelines and isolated him in his room shortly after our whole family got tested thankfully we all tested negative and till this day we are well in health. We expected him to get worse it was just the start of his quarantine week he was experiencing a lot of headaches,fevers,chills, and a horrible scratchy cough. We tried all home remedies as well as medications his Dr. had prescribed him but nothing seem to work. Second week of his quarantine came along and we still saw no progress he lost his appetite and started declining on Monday March 29th we woke up got his breakfast ready, medications and tea not knowing that behind his closed door he was laying in bed struggling to breathe, my mother knew something was wrong he wasn't answering the door so she quickly double masked and went in his room if at that moment my mother wouldn't have gone in we would've been too late. She quickly realised he was out of breathe and he was rushed to our local hospital to get treated, it was hard at first to get him to go to the hospital not having medical insurance he was scared to go into debt with all the medical expenses but we were finally able to get him to the hospital.
He is now hospitalized at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido battling COVID-19 Pneumonia, he is undergoing many treatments in order to help his lungs and avoid one or the other to collapse and give up on him. His oxygen levels are dropping. He is getting treated with antibiotics as well as getting a blood transfusion with plasma from previous COVID-19 patients donated from what we have been informed is that the plasma he is getting carries COVID-19 antibodies which can result in rapid improvement at the moment they are not seeing that he is not stable. Many of you know my father Antonio, and know how hard he works he's always provided for his family working 6 days a week, always putting others before himself. Not only is he a great father and husband, but he's an amazing grandfather to his 3 precious grandchildren who terribly miss him. He has dedicated 20 + years of his life working as a Carpenter, once discharged he will have a long road to recovery, and we are hoping the best during these challenging times. Due to the financial struggle we know will occur, we are asking for donations to help my father Antonio. Anything helps as this will be a challenging time on our family as my dad recovers once out of the hospital. Any prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.

El jueves 18 de marzo le informaron a mi padre que había estado en contacto con un compañero que dio positivo en la prueba de COVID-19, rápidamente fue a hacerse la prueba, esperamos los resultados, al día siguiente recibimos sus resultados, dio NEGATIVO, todos nos sentimos aliviados de no sabiendo que lo peor estaba por venir. Ese fin de semana siguiente se despertó con dolores corporales, fiebre y dolores de cabeza, no pensamos nada de eso, ya que sus resultados fueron negativos, calculamos un resfriado común, llegó el lunes por la mañana y tenía una temperatura alta de 102.6, ahí es cuando las cosas se intensificaron rápidamente hicimos una cita para que lo viera un Dr. él estaba mostrando todos los síntomas de COVID-19, por lo que recomendaron que se volviera a hacer la prueba. El martes por la mañana mi papá fue al sitio de la prueba para volver a hacerse la. Esperamos los resultados, llegó el miércoles por la mañana y recibimos sus resultados. Él era realmente POSITIVO.
Seguimos las instrucciones del CDC y lo aislamos en su habitación poco después de que toda nuestra familia se hiciera la prueba, afortunadamente todos obtuvimos resultados negativos y hasta el día de hoy estamos bien de salud. Esperábamos que empeorara, era solo el comienzo de su semana de cuarentena, una semana pasó y estaba experimentando muchos dolores de cabeza, fiebre, escalofríos y una tos horrible y rasposa. Ha dedicado más de 20 años de su vida a trabajar como carpintero, una vez dado de alta tendrá un largo camino hacia la recuperación, y esperamos lo mejor durante estos tiempos desafiantes. Debido a la lucha financiera que sabemos que ocurrirá, estamos solicitando donaciones para ayudar a mi padre Antonio.
