Antonio Johnson, a good friend and coworker, is one of the most optimistic and driven people we at Landers Toyota have ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Anyone who has ever met Antonio knows that he has a presence unlike anyone else. From dancing down the halls of the dealership to encouraging and uplifting the rest of us, Antonio has been one of the most valued members of our team for many years.
During this past summer, Antonio was forced to spend a couple weeks quarantined. On his return, many of us noticed that he was not his usual, vibrant self. His illness hitting him as hard as it did, this wasn't surprising to anyone. What we didn't expect was for this to only be the beginning. Antonio's health deteriorated slowly from there. He was visibly getting thinner and more lethargic. Over a month ago, he was checked into a hospital here in Little Rock. He was too weak to walk on his own and his arms and hands hurt too much to move.
As people noticed these changes, they would approach him. Antonio has no shortage of people here who care about him and his wellbeing. Managers and sales people would pull him aside to check on him. Antonio, through his pain, never once missed a day of work. His focus was always on providing for his family and being a productive part of the team here at Landers. When asked if he was ok, for months his only response was that he was on the mend and ready to work.
Antonio would never ask anyone else for anything. We here at Landers want to show him that he doesn't need to.
