Hello, my name is Brocha - a friend of Antonia's for nearly 17 years. My husband and I run a local charity and my husband is a chaplain to the local Nottingham Hospitals.
On Friday, 1 December 2023, a fire broke out in the home of Dan and Antonia, which claimed the life of Dan and left Antonia homeless.*
Dan was a loyal and loving husband, son, and brother, a wonderful uncle, and a dedicated friend, Dan was also a gifted artist, performer, and educator. He died in a fire that has seriously damaged their home (to the point of being condemned) and to save her life, Antonia -despite being wheelchair bound - managed to jump from a 3rd storey window. She miraculously survived, albeit with quite serious injuries and trauma. Thankfully she has physically healed well from her injuries however, due to a number of pre existing medical conditions, is still wheelchair bound.
She is now left homeless and faces imminent eviction from the hospital as she no longer requires a hospital stay but has no safe or suitable options to move into. She has been served an eviction notice from the hospital and if she doesn't find somewhere temporary, within the next few days, legal action will be taken against her.
We have been working closely with local services and various charities, none of which have come through or been able to help. They are all stretched to capacity so each one passes us to another, refusing to take responsibility. We are still hoping one will come through (and are in touch with them almost daily!) but for the time being, no progress has been made and things are pretty desperate!
Her close friends are fundraising to help Antonia with legal fees, moving costs and nursing care until insurance and social care pull through and she can find a permanent home that will enable her to get her benefits and care packages back.
We can't allow Antonia to be out on the streets! Please help us help her.
