Antonette's Personal / Medical Fund

On May 30th 2017, our daughter, sister, single mother and friend Antonette Cullen, suffered a major Ischemic Stroke/Cerebral embolism (a MAJOR stroke). At first her prognosis was bleak, but thanks to an awesome doctor, an amazing team at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, and the prayers and good vibes of many people Antonette survived and is progressing.

A few days after her stroke Antonette underwent a lifesaving craniotomy (the doctors removed half her skull). This surgery helped reduce the long term effects of her brain swelling due to her stroke.

As you may think, this has been a major life altering medical emergency. She spent weeks in the ICU at Baptist Hospital and is now at Brooks Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, FL. She lost the ability to move the right side of her body and the ability to speak. Courageously,  she is now working hard to regain these abilities, which often we take for granted. If you know Antonette, you know she is a fighter and a very strong person and will make the best recovery possible.

 The need.

First, your continued prayers and good vibes to be sent her way. Your prayers, comments and visits are what have helped Antonette to keep going and fight this fight to overcome the effects of this major stroke.

Second, Antonette is a single mom, and has worked very hard to provide for not only for herself but also a quality life for her daughter, Anasia (might we add, has done a great job doing so) without assistance. She is employed at ADT Security in Jacksonville in the Customer Service-Collections Department. Thankfully, she participated in the company insurance program and had short term disability benefits. However, her company provided insurance and short term disability ended the end of July. Her friends and family have helped with assistance on personal expenses and care while in the hospital and rehab. However, the costs of medical bills and needs are growing rapidly, on top of personal expenses. As you can imagine, weeks in ICU and intense medical rehab are very expensive, even with insurance, reaching many thousands of dollars thus far. She still has your everyday, rent, electric, car payment, back to school expenses, and insurance, that every family has.

Antonette needs our help, she has a long way to go. If you know her, you know she has always been the first to help others, even in times where she did not have it to give.  Every contribution, no matter how small you think it may be will help tremendously and will be greatly appreciated!

We will continue to update this site with pictures and progress updates.

Sincerely,

 Antonettes Family and Friends
