Antithesis: UWG Capstone film

Antithesis is a story to be told. Claire, an aspiring author, is in the process of writing her first novel when she meets Aaron at a house party. They form a relationship, and as time goes on, Aaron shows his true colors. Claire, whose rose-tinted glasses are now worn, has to learn to live with the pain left by her first love.

A message from the Director: Maddie Cobb is an aspiring Director & Cinematographer currently working

towards her B.S. in Film and Video Production with a minor in Psychology at the

University of West Georgia. She is expected to graduate in the Summer of 2025.

She has participated in the UWG Film Race for several semesters, winning awards

such as “Best Directing”, and “Best Cinematography”. Her first short film, The Oak

Tree, was recognized at the Cobb International Film Festival

Since starting her film journey in 2021, she has been ready to learn whatever her professors,

peers, and mentors will teach her. In her dedication to the craft, she fosters an atmosphere

of support, ready to take on whatever role her peers throw her way. She finds joy in

exploring all roles, as she knows that knowledge will help her to grow as a director and

cinematographer.

Her goal is to create real and meaningful stories, leveraging her knowledge of psychology to

help her understand people and the way their minds work, making the stories she portrays

even more powerful. She wants to focus her energy on sharing stories of people with mental

health struggles and fighting for women in the industry, as it is still a male-dominated space.

She gains her inspiration from female directors and writers such as Greta Gerwig.

With her time left at UWG, she plans on building her portfolio with hopes of attending AFI to

complete her master's in directing.
