Give Portland's most diverse schools A Kids Book About Racism , by Jelani Memory.
Montavilla is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the Portland Public School district yet the schools and student needs have been historically underserved.
This fundraiser will supply these books about racism free to kids at Vestal and Harrison Park elementary schools in Portland, OR. The Schools' principals have asked for 500 books—we got this.

Let's give every family at these schools a free copy of this powerful resource for learning and talking about racism for, and with, kids. (Check out the whole A Kids Book About ... line, it's amazing, thorough, and written by authors with lived experiences in their subjects.)

Vestal Elementary is a School for Social Justice—this work focuses on community dialog and personal responsibility. The school takes a community approach to creating a welcoming, respectful, and healthy learning environment for all.
We've been inspired to "contribute to our global society, and advocate for ourselves and others." We create this fundraiser to rally around our beloved neighborhood schools and provide them with kid-focused tools to help process and discuss the impacts of racism on their lives.
Through a special opportunity through CobaFM and in partnership with the author, Jelani Memory, these books are available for half the list price (only $10!). We need $5000 to give every Montavilla elementary family this awesome resource.

About Coba FM - "CoBa is a podcast network that is all about Community, baby. We create and push audio (and one day, video) content that nourishes, celebrates and elevates Community. The goal is not just connection but understanding. Hopefully, the result is memorable and worth sharing. CoBa was founded in 2020 and is based in Montavilla, Portland, Oregon."
Thank you for supporting anti-racist education, community schools, local authors, and gorgeously designed books.
