Anti-LGBT Custody Battle - Help us stay together

Donation protected
In April of 2023 our battle began to keep our family together. After 2 years of an expensive and traumatizing legal battle, in October of 2024 courts decided to remove Casey as primary custodian and reduce her time with Adalynn from 60% to every other weekend. This turned Adalynn’s entire world upside down, overnight.

The basis for this change by the other parent, was solely rooted in Casey’s “lifestyle” being a queer woman without “Christian values”. Specifically citing Casey’s participation in a queer football league as evidence of her “unfit parenting” and not being “child centered”. There was no legal grounds for our daughter to be uprooted and her whole life changed - just because of Casey’s life, hobbies and non-Christian beliefs.

We have appealed the courts decision and have been placed on the docket for the State of Georgia Court of Appeals but we need to replied our retainer for this effort of our amazing appellate attorney.

We are asking our chosen family and community for support again - as we fight to restore our family and our lives but most importantly for our Adalynn to be able to spend equal time with both parents who love her.

Original Post:
“father seeking primary physical custody and primary decision making due to mother’s “new LGBT lifestyle”….. that exactly what the legal motion says - multiple times.

Casey is a former Southern Baptist pastor's wife and late in life lesbian. Her almost 8 year old daughter is the "heart on the outside of her body" and they share a very strong bond - even with matching hair cuts and color at the courageous prompting of the spunky child. Casey divorced her pastor husband when her daughter was under 2 years old after years of domestic violence in her marriage.

For many years Casey has cared for her daughter up to 80% of the time and coordinated all medical, physical, behavioral and educational services for their daughter while attempting to maintain a positive co-parenting relationship.

Summer of 2022 Casey and her daughter's dad relocated to Atlanta from Idaho - they have been divorced for over 5 years but decided together to relocate to a larger city for more opportunities for each family. Despite a continued efforts to cooperate and co-parent, Casey was served with legal court documents to modify Casey's status from primary custodial parent to non-primary custodial parent with no decision making.

The reasons sited for this change is primarily Casey's "new LGBTQ lifestyle" and decision to move 20 minutes away to a diverse neighborhood in the city. This comes just weeks after his marriage to a woman he has known less than a year, that he now refers to as 'mom' when their daughter is in his care.

In Georgia, primary decision making includes religion - which mean's her ex-husbands Southern Baptist and anti-woman/anti-gay beliefs would have to be honored at all times - if the father is awarded the petition.

Casey is facing an extensive and expensive legal battle to keep primary custody of her daughter and protect them both from anti-gay religious doctrine that could severely impact their relationship. Despite Casey’s best efforts as a single mom, she is unable to pay for her attorney fees to have strong representation in this case.

Breakdown:
  • possibly guardian ad litem $5000
  • legal fees: $5000
  • other unknown fees if case goes to trial

Funds given to this page will go directly to Casey's attorneys and direct payment information for her attorney's can be provided if needed but due to the sensitive nature of this custody issue, it cannot be provided here.
