Antibiotics for Megs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kristen, and I'm fundraising for my twin sister, Megan.
Megan is a stay-at-home mom of 1, her daughter Lennon. She is 32 years old. She has a longtime boyfriend, Ryan, who works to support her and their daughter.
She is one of the most selfless people I know. She gives and gives to others and dramatically supports the sober community. I can't quite put into words how much she loves and helps others; she is an amazing woman. One of the best people I have ever known.
With that being said, she took an aloe vera pill to help with inflammation in September of 2021 and had a horrific reaction to it. She started feeling sick, and her stomach was always hurting with chronic daily pain.
Three doctors later, blood work, ct scans, MRI, and urine tests.
Colonoscopy and endoscopy in march 2022. H pylori breath test.
She was finally diagnosed with bacteria in her small intestines-Sibo Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth.
She has hyperthyroidism, but the meds her specialist gave her helped to slow down gastric emptying too much. Eating too often is painful. But not eating often enough makes her feel sick due to hyperthyroidism. She can't eat 90% of food. Even the approved food list for her, she has to be highly cautious with-if she eats too fast or doesn't chew it thoroughly, it will mess up her body. Her body is fighting for nutrients, and the bacteria are winning. She has lost a significant amount of weight-too much as she is considered "anorexic" even though I have personally seen her eat more than the average person.
She got approval for a 2-week regimen of antibiotics to help this ongoing issue, along with the FODMAP diet and countless supplements; we are hoping that she can get back to normal as this has been going on for over a year with zero relief.
Just the antibiotics alone are going to cost her $2,500.00. Once the antibiotic is done, the real work will begin. It will take months and multiple expensive supplements to help her gut health slowly return to normal. The medicine is not just the routine antibiotic that will make her feel better. There is no easy fix for this. Many things she has to do will make her feel worse at first.
I am simply asking for any donation to get her the medicine that will help her; She already has the authorization through her specialist and the pharmacy, but she cannot afford this in full.
Thank you so much.
