I have officially, finally been scheduled for top surgery (full double mastectomy, blowing these babies smoove off) on June 9th. After living in discomfort for years at watching people look at my face, say "Sir," look down at my chest, furrow their brow, and go, "Sorry, Ma'am"-- after losing my mother to her second bout with breast cancer-- it's time.

Insurance will be covering the procedure, but I will have to be out of work for at least 6 weeks to recover. As much as it makes me so uncomfortable to ask for help, as someone objectively living paycheck to paycheck, I could not afford to pay my bills on my own missing a whole month and a half of work. So I'm doing the thing every transgender does and asking for help financially while I recover from surgery. I'll be staying with my sister Laura the first couple weeks while I'm truly bedridden, shout out to having healthcare professionals in the family, so some of this has been budgeted towards making her life easier in that time also. (There's gonna be some takeout ordered. Johnny can't cook everything for us, as much as I know he'd agree to if we asked.)

Anything you can contribute, even a dollar, would mean the world to me. I don't really know what to say, again asking for help feels like pulling teeth, but thank you very much and I love you all.
