Anthony's Organ Donation Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone out there!

Many of you may have already heard that my youngest brother Anthony has gone through the procedures to determine if he's a match to donate a portion of his liver to our phenonenal Aunt Ronni. Ronni has been battling a rare autoimmune disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) and has been searching for a suitable donor for many months.

Hopefully you've heard that Anthony was found to be a perfect donor! Everyone who knows either of these people is absolutely overjoyed at the news!

The amazing transplant team has done all their work and they've scheduled the surgery for January 18th, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta. That's coming up really soon!

While we're all thrilled about the powerful and generous donation Anthony is making, we also know that there will be a significant healing period for both him and Ronni. That's why I'm reaching out!

The schedule so far involves Anthony, his fiance Krista and his son Aidan flying out from their home in Victoria, BC to the UofA hospital in Edmonton on the 14th of January, when the first medical preparations begin. If everything goes perfectly,  Anthony will remain in hospital for a week after the surgery, when Krista and Aidan will return home.

When he's released, he will head down to Red Deer for about ten days. He'll be staying there with our eldest brother Jason and his wife Stephanie, who will tirelessly look after him with help from our dad Jerry and stepmom Lesli! If the UofA hospital clears him to travel after that, he will fly back to Victoria to be reunited with Krista and Aiden.

If all goes as well as we hope it will, Anthony won't be able to return to his job until around May. This will be a pretty big burden on him, emotionally and financially. In addition to the costs of travel and time off, Anthony's housing/living expenses will be unmanagable without our help.

My goal is to raise enough funds to cover Anthony and Krista's living expenses for the four months that he will be unable to work. This includes rent, utilities, groceries and travel expenses to and from Edmonton. Even though she doesn't get to take off time from work, luckily Krista has offered to be his live-in nurse! Poor Krista!

Anything that anyone can do will be very helpful and deeply appreciated! We're a large and loving family and we will look after our own, but we may even get some of our friends or co-workers to help us do it!

Do it for Anthony! Do it for Aunti Ronni!!
