Anthony Taylor “Tink” Bambico and Family Expenses

Don protégé

Anthony Taylor Seay-Bambico is the eldest sibling (and only boy) of 7 children in the Bambico clan. We call it a clan because it literally takes 3 hours and the party of 9 to arrive anywhere before the event can commence. He is 22 and the most fun-loving, joyous, hysterically witty young man I’ve ever met. As his Aunt, I know I’m supposed to say all those nice things, but no truer words have ever been written than Taylor is an absolutely amazing human with a heart of gold. There is not a person on Earth who brings a bigger smile to the room. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for the ones he loves and nothing he wouldn’t say to make you smile and laugh, especially if you were feeling down. He has been his sisters hero since they were born and he has become our entire family’s hero for the way he has taken his diagnosis head on and never backed down.

Taylor was diagnosed with a curable form of leukemia in November 2020 but unfortunately due to a rare genetic mutation it has become a form that has no cure. In November when he was assumed to have Covid/pneumonia he was rushed to MD Andersen in Houston after the testing came back that it was not either of those but in fact Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Since the diagnosis he has been in and out of the hospital for chemotherapy treatments. Each time he has been set to start a clinical trial in hopes of reducing the cancer, he has developed an infection and therefore has not been able to participate. At the beginning of March 2021 he was placed in an induced coma for 6 days. We weren’t sure he was going to wake up. We were told it would be a miracle if he made it 24 hours. We know our God is greater than anything or anyone, so we reached out for prayers. It’s the only thing we know how to ask for. And God came through. He woke up from his coma and was given another opportunity to fight this cancer again.

On Friday, April 2, 2021, Van and Misty Bambico were given news that no parent ever wants to hear. There is nothing else the doctors can do. There is no cure and his body is too weak to give chemo or start a clinical trial since he now has pneumonia (again).  For the last month between Van and Misty they have only worked 1 week. It goes without saying that 1 weeks paycheck does not even begin to cover the expenses for a household of currently 7 people, 2 adults and 5 children.

This fundraiser is being organized to help with the expenses for the Bambico’s while they are out of work ensuring Taylor isn’t alone through this moment of his life. They have been staying in a hotel in Houston to be closer to the hospital as well as at his apartment the hospital has extended to Taylor while in treatment. Due to Covid, he is only allowed to have one person with him. No switch outs, no reliefs. That is as close as they can be to him. Taylor has chosen the love of his life, Michelle Wingo to be by his side through this journey, and by all definitions of the word, she is a literal angel and we are beyond thankful and grateful for all she has done for him and staying by his side. There are no words that will ever begin to express how thankful we all are that Taylor has her.

It has been an emotional roller coaster for the last month, to say the least, and was a very difficult decision to come to terms with but they are financially struggling. It’s never easy to have a child fighting for their life, no matter the age. I believe it’s even harder when you are still responsible for taking care of 5 other children at the same time.

If you find that God places it on your heart to give, they are more than thankful, if you are wanting to help but don’t have the means we are a God first type of family so prayers are very welcomed and extremely appreciated. Keep em coming.

We continue to pray for a miracle for Taylor and that he makes a full recovery, that God intervenes and brings his son peace and comfort. I will continue to update this page as information becomes available. God bless all of you!
