Anthony Sherman is a fun loving 59-year. Tony is married to Joy Sherman and is a father to four, a grandpa to one, and a papa to many foster kiddos. Over 10 years ago Tony was diagnosed with stage one melanoma. He had a spot cut out of his back and was given the all clear. Tony was diligent and going to his follow up appointments to watch for recurrent melanoma. Fast forward 10 years during a workup for a routine surgery, a mass was found on Tony’s lung. The mass was originally misdiagnosed as a fungal infection. For months Tony was treated with an antifungal until he became short of breath and was admitted to UAB hospital. There he was diagnosed with stage four melanoma. Tony is currently at home on oxygen 24 hours of the day. Melanoma was found on his brain, numerous tumors are on his lungs, his ribs, his spinal cord, his adrenal gland, his liver, and many other places. Tony has undergone radiation to his brain and will continue to have multiple MRIs, with each MRI having a $320 co-pay before he is able to have the scans. Tony will have immuno therapy twice a month along with multiple doctors appointments and constant repeat scans to monitor his progress. With Tony being the breadwinner of the family he is no longer able to financially support his family much less pay for the countless co-pays, Medical bills and travel expenses. Please help Tony fight stage four melanoma! #tonystrong
