Anthony Powers Burial Assitance

**Updated Funeral Arrangements:**
My name is Lori Murphy and I am setting up a go fund me page for Anthony Powers. He has been like my little brother since him, his sister Reba and brother Joey came into our lives 20+ years ago.  Reba is married to my youngest brother Jeb.  Anthony was involved in a fatal motorcycle  accident in Lake City Fl Thursday Aug. 27, 2020.  He has left behind his 8 yr old son Kyler.
He did not have any life insurance and was 100% Disabled Veteran.  His family and our family are trying to raise the money to Cremate Anthony.  Our families do not have the means to help pay for his burial.
SPC Anthony Powers proudly served in the US Army Reserves, which included two tours in Afghanistan. He volunteered for his second tour.  He was attached to 81st  Regional Readiness Command. Like most his call to duty is what motivated him.
He endured 3 separate violent attacks against him over a ten year span of time,  each event he was left for dead. While on his 2 week leave from Afghanistan, he was car jacked,  severely beaten, and left on the side of the road for dead. A few years later, he was playing basketball with his brother at the public basketball courts, a group of guys showed up and beat him and his brother with lead pipes. And  in Nov 2018 walking down the road, he was hit by a hit and run driver. He suffered 3 traumatic head injuries during those events. They had a severe impact on  him.  His journey would be even harder after each one of those  traumatic events.  In his 30's his brain was equivalent to a 70 yr old but his heart was bigger than anyone's I know.  The impact of the Brain injuries were big.  He refused to let those injuries stop him and define him. We had come to the conclusion he was like a cat with 9 lives.  Its just so hard to wrap our heads around, him gone, after surviving those 3 traumatic events.
Anthony had an unwavering love for those in his life and gave the shirt off his back, even when that's all he had.  Anyone one that truly knew him knows how strong his faith was and how big his heart was. He did things like give a camper to a friend that was homeless so that they could have a place to live. He gave a dog pen to a friend so he would have a place to keep his puppy. Animals were such a huge part of his life.  He gave out Bibles so that they would know the word of God the way he did. He was passionate about his faith. He made a big impact in so many lives and wanted all he came  in contact with to know God the way he did.
The hole in our hearts is huge and gut wrenching.
If anyone would like to donate to help us pay for Anthony's Cremation they may donate to this Go Fund Me page or they may contact the Funeral home directly to give.  We have to raise $3,730  in order to lay him to rest on Saturday Sept. 5th, 2020.  If there is any additional funds raised they will been given to his son Kyler.

We have made the decision to have Anthony's funeral at Grandpa’s church (Free Holiness Church). Services will begin at 11:00 am. The Military Honors will be conducted first, followed by the funeral services and we will end with a celebration of Anthony’s life. We will have food and refreshments available at the church following the funeral; if you would like to bring a covered dish, it would be greatly appreciated (thank you so much to the ones that have volunteered to bring food). We want to also thank everyone for all of the many blessings during this very difficult time ️ I look forward to seeing everyone Saturday. I ask the Lord to bless us all with strength during this hurting time and protection as we all prepare to travel this weekend. Amen
We are beyond grateful for the thoughts, the prayers, the resources that everyone has provided, and the various groups that have reached out to help guide us through the process.
It takes a village to raise a family. We couldn't make it through this process without our village.
