In early September, Anthony "Tony" went in for stomach pain where he was treated for prostatitis and given antibiotics. When that wasn't working and the pain grew, more extensive tests were done. After a lengthy month of poking and prodding we got the news that he has several malignant germ-cell tumors in the pelvic, groin and back areas. The diagnosis is testicular cancer.
A Pet scan on 10/26 showed that the cancer cells have moved up to the lungs. The type of cancer he has is a Ambyol Carcinoma, stage 3. They said the stage shouldn't be a scare, even though it's aggressively spreading the chemo medicine is just as aggressive in attacking it.
Dr recommended Tony undergo 4 cycles of chemo. Due to the doubling in size of the lymph nodes he was admitted immediately to the hospital for the first 5-day chemo regiment.
I'll tell you what a cycle is for Tony's chemo regiment. One cycle consists of 3 weeks. The first week is a consecutive 5 days of chemotherapy with 3 medicines. Then the 2nd week is 1 day of chemotherapy with 1 medicine and then the 3rd week again with 1 medicine. He will then have one week off and then start up the 2nd cycle on November 27th with consecutive 5 days and so on.
We are asking for your help to raise money to relieve the financial burden during this time as Tony will need to be off of work, attending doctors' appointments, receiving chemo and to aid with accumulating medical bills. We are grateful for your donation, no matter how big or small.
