Support for Anthony (AJ) Mulder's family in Powell River

Hello, my name is Ingrid de Villiers, and Anthony has been one of my sons' best friends since kindergarten. They were together at Heritage Online Christian School and Brooks High School till Grade 12, and he was like one of my sons. On May 31st, 2025, Anthony passed away. It was very sudden and unexpected.

Anthony left home in the morning in good spirits, hugged his mother and said, "I love you, Mom," before leaving for work. He enjoyed a fantastic ride with Steffan and Aidan, out to Lund where their crew would be working that day. They talked about plans for the summer and hosting a big BBQ. Shortly after lunch, as AJ was loading a truck, he collapsed. The coroner performing the autopsy said it was close to instant death. Not even the most experienced person could have saved him.

Anthony was involved in the Air Cadets from the age of 13 until he aged out on his 18th birthday. When Anthony was about 14 years old, he began swimming competitively with the POW Summer Swim Club and, later, with West Coast Wind.

Despite mainly being known for his public appearances as part of the Jazz Combo, the “Kitchen Sink”, Anthony had a lot of varied interests over the years, ranging from airsoft to competitive swimming, where he had a natural ability to fly (butterfly stroke). Anthony started playing acoustic guitar when he was 6 years old because his Mom made him. She felt strongly that boys needed a way to express themselves through some outlet. Anthony was a well-rounded individual who worked hard at everything he did. This past year, he finished his first year in a jazz and composition program at Capilano University.

Anthony, with his warm, big smile, was an honest, kind-mannered young man. This "GoFundMe" aims to help the family cover the funeral costs associated with his sudden loss, if possible, sponsor a memorial bench, and establish a guitar scholarship in his name.
