My brother Anthony, a 36-year-old Local 1 Ironworker (Chicago) from Valparaiso, IN is facing the fight of his life. Recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Anthony needs time — not just to heal, but to be present with his children and those who love him most.
He’s not just a father. He’s a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a partner — a pillar to so many. If you know Anthony, you know the kind of person he is: kind-hearted, quietly courageous, deeply loyal, forever curious, and always showing up for the people he loves.
Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
Why We're Asking for Help
This cancer moves fast. To give himself the best chance, Anthony is pursuing an aggressive and comprehensive treatment plan — combining the best of modern medicine with holistic, integrative approaches focused on healing the whole person. Unfortunately, many of these supportive therapies and medicines are not covered by insurance and it's a full time commitment to do them the right way.
On top of that, continuing to work through this fight is not only unsustainable — it could jeopardize his health. What Anthony really needs is time:
- Time to heal
- Time to undergo treatments without financial stress
- Time to be with his kids and family
- Time to fight with everything he’s got
At the very strong recommendation of his medical team, but not without resistance because of his work ethic and dedication to his career in addition to concerns about the financial implications, Anthony will be taking some time off of work. But it won't be easy, which is why I'm asking for support beyond what I am able to do for him.
