Anthony Bell - Recovery from Serious Accident - Injured Dad

Hi, my name is Anthony Bell I’m a 33 year old Dad who went to work on the 3/2/25 to provide for my family.

Little did I know my life would change in a matter of seconds. I fell 3.5 metres through a skylight that had been painted over to be the same colour as the roof so from above it looked like every other roof sheet. I sustained 19 broken bones from my hip up to my head on my right side including a broken back, and I also had two brain bleeds. I was in state trauma Centre at RPH for 8 days. Many of my doctors said I’m lucky to be alive.

I got sent home to await surgery on my clavicle, it took 12 weeks for them to finally do surgery and by that point my shoulder was so damaged that they needed to do a bone graft from my hip and put several plates in. I just found out last week that my wrist has also been broken with also tendon and ligament damage this entire time so I will need surgery on that too.

Workers compensation have rejected my claim saying that I am not classified as a worker, I am working with a lawyer for this to be resolved but for the meantime we are living on my partners part time income that doesn’t even cover our mortgage let alone any other expenses.

There has also been other issues such as my employer not reporting the incident to WorkSafe in the required timeframe etc.

We are not ones to ask for help from others but we have had to put this aside and have already accepted help from family members however the months keep going by and I am still

not getting paid which is why I’ve turned to GoFundMe to try ease the pressure in our lives.

I still have no return to work date as I am unable to work until I have completed the recovery from the surgeries.

This money will help pay my medical bills and everyday bills for me and my family.
