We are raising money for Annabel Baynie and her children Lucy (21), Benji (12) and Olive (9), after the devastating passing of their husband and dad Anthony on 24 June 2024.

Last year, Anthony was extremely unwell and hospitalised on and off for 6 months. More recently, although still quite sick, he had been recovering at home with his family. Less than a month ago, they received the heartbreaking news that he had cancer for the third time (metastasised adenocarcinoma), which had spread throughout his lungs, ribs and spine. As they struggled to process this terminal diagnosis, he sadly passed away much sooner than anyone expected.

Anthony was the epitome of a family man, adored by his children and wife and remaining a positive and formidable force within their Thornleigh home despite the challenges he faced over many years. A marriage that could be described as a real life fairytale, Annabel described him as "the finest man I have ever met".

Anthony had previously had prostate cancer in 2012 and then chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in 2018. Then last year he spent 8 weeks in hospital, a month in ICU intubated in a medical coma and almost dying from septic shock.

Unfortunately, Anthony was not able to get life insurance after his first cancer diagnosis. He and Annabel have worked hard during their careers as a nurse and a midwife respectively but the 12 years since Anthony's first cancer diagnosis have put many pressures on the Baynie family including financial ones. During the past year, Annabel has often been the carer for Anthony and has exhausted all her sick and annual leave. While we cannot take away the pain and grief for this beautiful family, we can help ease their financial worries. There will be funeral bills to pay, as well as medical and day to day costs for the family, which we propose any money raised would go towards.
