Homegoing Services for Anthony Alexander Jr.

Donation protected

A young hero by the name of Anthony Alexander Jr. was taken from us on Sunday, January 29th when he was accidentally killed at an Eagles playoff party in Upper Darby by another teenager. An afternoon in which Anthony thought he would be celebrating the city of Philadelphia with his peers, turned into a tragedy after a group of teens at the party made the unfortunate decision to play with guns they brought to the party, killing Anthony that same afternoon.

At just 17 years old, Anthony was about to celebrate the anniversary of an epic accomplishment, where he was celebrated as the "Collingdale Park Hero" who courageously and selflessly rescued scared children from a frozen pond. To his family and friends, he was a playful child with a good heart and a kind soul. He was someone who cared deeply and had an infectious smile that could light up a room. He was someone who would support you and have your back.... and sadly someone who was taken from us far, far too soon. After high school, he had dreams to follow in the footsteps of his eldest sister by joining the Marine Corps.

We want to thank all of those who have reached out with love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you support Anthony in the form of a donation. Proceeds will be used to offset the funeral costs with any and all remaining funds used to create a foundation in his honor. Although we are deeply saddened by our loss, we also find strength in using this tragedy as an opportunity to fight back against the gun violence that has plagued our community and is taking hold of our youth. We want to begin a nonprofit organization called “Change the Culture”, which will offer educational information about gun violence, gun safety, mental health, and services to those that have lost a loved one due to gun violence. We understand that these issues are deeply rooted in our community and for the culture to change, it will take our entire village.
