Antarctica with Type 1 Diabetes

My name is Rachel and this December I am undertaking the challenge to become the first woman with type 1 diabetes to summit Antarctica's highest mountain, Mount Vinson.

Standing at 4892m, the expedition to Mount Vinson's summit will involve two weeks on the coldest continent. I will be exposed to harsh conditions - cold, wind and technical terrain. This challenge will push me, but I am very determined to make it a success. I am extremely passionate about the underlying values of the project. I will be joining the 'Climbing The Seven Summits (CTSS)' team.

Due to the remoteness of Antarctica, coupled with demanding logistics, travel costs, insurance, gear and the specialised expertise required to operate there, getting to Mount Vinson comes with a high cost.
