Answers for Vinnie

Hello, Thank you for looking into our fundraiser.
Many of you know Alicia and her BLM Mustang Vinnie. Alicia has been on a journey with him since 2013 when she met him in training then he became hers in January of 2014. Around that time is when I met Alicia as she invited me to be her hoofcare provider. At that time it was the start of their journey which has lead Alicia to use her experience in rehabbing her horse to help teach others and support their own journey. Vinnie has been diagnosed with Navicular their first summer together. Since then Alicia spent a lot of time educating herself on Navicular including flying to the UK in 2015 and learning about barefoot rehab at the Rockley farm. This also was the launching point where Alicia decided to help other with the start of her facebook group Barefoot Method for Navicular. Alicia has helped countless owner and their horses through her experience with Vinnie including myself with my own navicular horse. Her journey helped myself focus on a forage base feed program and why it’s important. Alicia has been instrumental in gathering like minded hoof care professionals together to help one another and helps many of my own clients with nutritional advice based off her own path. Alicia’s newest focus has been starting online podcasts where she interviews all sorts of hoofcare providers including our very good mentor Pete Ramey. Along side that, she has launched her own hoofcare practice The Humble Hoof, and has been enrolled in hoofcare school with Pacific Hoofcare Practitioners, where she currently mentors with other hoofcare professionals.
At this point within Alicia’s journey, we need more answers, and they come at an expense. Recently Vinnie has taken a turn for the worse and nothing seems to be assisting in his comfort. We as professionals and friends want to make sure that Vinnie gets the diagnostics he so deserves at this point and want to try to help Alicia before calling it quits. In the name of veterinary medicine, we feel it is important as there have been so many professionals involved in this case, to try to find out what is ailing Vinnie so it can be addressed through a solid diagnoses, which will include an MRI at Tufts of both front legs. What happens after we have more information is part of the journey, this may include doing what is the most humane and ethical if it’s the right decision made by the team, we will not take this avenue lightly but we must focus on more information before these options are determined. Positive vibes their way, their first initial exam with Dr Garcia at Tufts is June 27.
A lot of people have been helped by Alicia especially through all of her hard work with her podcasts along with so many horses have been helped, including my own. Alicia is always available for me to bounce a nutritional question or ask her “What would Rockley do?” Please consider giving back to Alicia so she may have some serious answers and then we can help support her as she leaves no stone unturned.
Without Vinnie and his lameness, many of us would not have the asset of Alicia and her ability to share all her information and knowledge, he is a true gift that offers many lessons that have been shared and experienced with many. It’s time to return the favor.
This Fundraiser was set up with much coaxing made by fellow hoofcare provider June O’brien and myself after we spend an evening working on Vinnie with Alicia, with some glue on shoes. Alicia has exhausted every avenue and we feel as a community we can help them find answers that will help decide the very best future for them. Please take the time to share this so it is reached far and wide. We thank you, we are #TeamVinnie
