Fight for Baby Ansley
Donation protected
Baby Ansley Jane Martucci was born on October 13, 2015 to her parents, Emily and Thomas. Ansley is the younger sister of Audrey who is just a couple of months shy of her 2nd birthday. What was supposed to be a joyful time in the lives of this family quickly turned into a parent's worst nightmare. At just 3 weeks of age, Ansley presented a high fever and was quickly admitted to the local children's hospital for further testing and a 48 hour inpatient observation period. Emily and Thomas soon learned their little girl was fighting for her life.
By the grace of God, the attending physician had ordered an additional test that was not considered routine screening for a newborn over 21 days old (Ansley was just outside that window at 24 days at the time of admission). It was this very test that resulted in a positive diagnoses of meningitis. In response to this diagnoses, both an EEG and an MRI were ordered to assess her brain. The results were positive for encephalitis indicating that her little brain has been infected.
These viruses are extremely aggressive on a newborn and the outcome of baby Ansley is still uncertain. While the doctors have been wonderful at comforting this family they have also stressed that they will have a long road ahead filled with uncertainty. Baby Ansley underwent a surgery to insert a line that leads to a main artery just under her heart where she will receive her anti-viral medication. Ansley will be in the care of the hospital staff and her family for at least 21 days and then a long road of recovery ahead of her if all goes well in the hospital.
Emily, Ansley's mother, has been blessed to stay at home to raise and care for her two daughters. Her husband, Thomas, just recently started his own business. Emily and Thomas are devout Christians and believe God is present in all circumstances including this journey. This page was created to share Ansley's fight and ask those who feel compelled to prayerfully consider making a donation towards the growing medical costs of Ansley's care.
