Hi there. For many of you who knew Scott, you know he was a bright light; a kind and tender guy who rose up beyond many life challenges. No matter what the obstacle, he was a fighter, trouble shooter, problem solver and loved his family and friends so much. He had an infectious, silly way about him that made any situation fun and light. People wanted to be around him. He was positive in the darkest of times and truly, the strongest guy I've ever known. His loyalty was never compromised even in the toughest situations and as a man and father, those are tremendous and important values for his children to honor.
Scott faught cancer for the past year. What an ugly disease but boy was he a warrior. He overcame the odds and lived long after his diagnosos. But ultimately, he lost the fight just 9 days after turning 39 and weeks before his kid's birthdays.
His son Devin turns 17 this October and will graduate high school this year. He will go off to college, work, drive and start his journey as a young man.
Brooke, his daughter, is in first grade and turns 6 next month. She is obssed with the Ninja Turtles and really, seriously loves cupcakes and pizza.
Both Devin and Brooke were extremely close to Scott - their hero, fighter and friend. They truly have no idea how hard it will be navigating milestones without him.
The intent of this "raise" is to help provide some additional comfort and relief, financially. Both Devin and Brooke's mothers are now single parents, To fulfill the dreams and wishes Scott had for his kids - they really need support. His kids deserve the same opportunities we had and the same as their peers.
The funds raised will be spent wisely and split evenly between Devin and Brooke. Whether it be college, sports, after school activities, summer camp or just LIFE - every penny will be spent to help enrich their lives. He only wanted enrichment and opportunity for his kids and that is what I have set out to give.
