Aria's Army: A battle fund to reunite mom & child

*06/02/2023 UPDATE*
On May 23 the judge vacated the emergency ex parte guardianship order and returned Aria to her mother, Jamie. Unfortunately, the judge didn't have time for a full hearing on the matter, so this isn't over yet. It's unreal that after being separated from her daughter for 20 long days that a judge can just say he doesn't have time for it, and shunt it off for another day - but this is rural Oklahoma and everyone seems to have an "aw, shucks" attitude about justice and accountability.

And that's not the worst of it. As feared, Toxic Grandparents managed to coach Aria and were rewarded for their bad behavior by being granted visitation with her for two hours a week at their church. Of course, on the very first visit, Toxic Grandparents already tried to defy the agreement signed by all parties in court and attempted to leave with Aria.

There will be a full hearing on the petition for guardianship in August and our financial resources have already been greatly depleted. We're approaching $10,000 out of pocket, and the lies, manipulation, stonewalling, and emotional anguish continue. This week, Jamie's Ring video doorbell caught Toxic Grandparent's stopped vehicle at the end of her driveway at 10:15 pm, where Toxic Grandma took a photo or short video. When questioned by a Yukon PD officer about this bizarre appearance at Jamie's home, Toxic Grandparents stated they took their cat for a walk at a nearby park and it got loose and so they were driving around looking for the cat. Seriously. This is the level of craziness we are dealing with.

Oklahoma really is the wild west. If you've made it this far, thank you. If you can donate to help us keep up the fight, and keep Aria and her mom together, thank you. If you can't donate, please consider sharing our cause and sending some good vibes, thoughts, or prayers our way. Thank you for your kindness.

Thank you, Toxic Grandma, for your $5 donation to the fundraiser. You don't scare me.

Hi, my name is Natalie Porter and I am organizing this battle fund on behalf of my sister, Jamie, and her 8-year-old daughter/my niece, Aria.

More than two years ago, my sister made the difficult decision to sever the relationship our parents had with their granddaughter. This decision did not come without multiple warnings to my parents, who continued to repeatedly ignore my sister's requests regarding the parenting of her child. This decision was truly necessary to protect Aria from further emotional and mental manipulation at the hands of my parents.

Our parents are toxic, manipulative, utterly without boundaries, and emotionally immature. Whenever they don't get their way, they do something drastic. That's why all three of their daughters are estranged from them. In fact, they've been threatening to take legal action to have access to Aria almost this whole time. On May 3, they finally did it.

After more than two years of no contact, they were inexplicably granted emergency guardianship of Aria by alleging abuse in the home. I don't believe there to be any abuse in my sister's home, nor would my parents have any way of knowing if there were. They've not allowed my sister any contact with her daughter since May 5. The emergency guardianship is in effect until a hearing on May 23, and there is no doubt that my parents will use this exclusive access to Aria to coach her into saying whatever they feed to her. Toxic Grandparents have already purchased a new wardrobe, toys, a tablet, and who knows what else at this point, and the harm to Aria will be irreparable. We need to bring Aria home now, or, in the alternative, have her placed in foster care until the court and DHS can complete their work to correct this error.

My husband and I have hired a lawyer on my sister's behalf, and paid the $5,000 retainer to get started on what will truly be the highest-stakes fight our family has ever faced. Please consider a donation in any amount to the battle fund that will be necessary to permanently reunite mother and child. In the event there are any remaining funds, they will be held in trust and applied to the costs of therapy and education of Aria. Thank you for your kindness.
