(Another) unexpected hospital experience
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
As some of you may know I was admitted into the hospital on Thursday April 7th for the removal of my giant celled tumor from my knee. However, during my recovery process I developed compartment syndrome in my leg which was due to the fast buildup of fluid and blood within the compartments of my lower leg. It wasn’t apparent to me at the time but had I not received an emergency fasciotomy that night I 100% would have lost my leg. I was able to get to the OR in time but unfortunately a considerable amount of muscle in my leg had died and needed to be taken out. This left me with severe nerve pain in my foot and two giant open wounds in my leg which have had to be covered with a wound vacuum. What was supposed to be a a 1-2 day recovery in the hospital turned into a more than a month long confinement. During these 40 days in the hospital I have lost 25 pounds and have experienced the most excruciating agonizing pain I have ever physically and mentally endured.
My entire life was uprooted and since then I’ve had to undergo almost one surgery a week to slowly repair my leg that had almost been lost. Tomorrow I will undergo my 6th and hopefully my last surgery but I will have to remain here in the hospital for at least another week. I hope to be able to walk again once I get back home.
What I am asking for is a much bigger favor than the last donation. I appreciate everyone who had donated to me before but me and my family were not expecting for me to be stuck in the hospital for this long but it has taken a huge financial hit on us, even to the point where I will not be able to attend TCU at least for the fall semester, other semesters unknown.
To anyone willing to help out I will be eternally grateful and will never forget your aid to me, my mother and father and will be there for you as you are for me.
