Over the past nine years, many of you have walked beside me through an unimaginable medical journey, seven brain surgeries, countless hospital stays, and more recoveries than I can count. I know it may feel unbelievable that I am once again asking for help, and I truly would not ask if it were not absolutely necessary. On Tuesday, February 17th, I will be undergoing another major procedure, a skin graft surgery that is medically necessary due to wounds that cannot heal on their own after years of cranial surgeries and radiation. I am honestly terrified, especially because the last time I had a procedure at this same hospital, my brain suddenly swelled without warning. I nearly lost my life, required an emergency craniectomy to relieve the pressure, spent time on life support, and was left permanently partially physically disabled.

Because of my ongoing health challenges, I live on a fixed income of about $1,050 per month, which barely covers basic necessities like utilities and groceries. With another surgery, recovery period, and time away from normal daily functioning, the financial strain becomes overwhelming very quickly. I know times are difficult for everyone, and I never take your kindness or generosity for granted.
