Another Miracle for Austin
Donation protected
As a toddler, an otherwise perfectly healthy Austin Jones picked up a bacterial infection that threatened his life. The infection sent him into renal failure. Austin's first miracle was not only surviving, but thriving after his courageous uncle donated a kidney to Austin.
The Jones family is now moving to Boston. Austin recently collapsed in pain at school and prompted some investigation that discovered that he had developed post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder, a rare complication to the medications Austin takes to protect his transplanted kidney. More specifically, Austin developed Burkitt-like Lymphoma. Left untreated, the cancer is not survivable. Austin was quickly moved from UCLA to Boston Children's Hospital, where is he will receive the best possible chance at beating back this disease.
So at 9 years old, Austin needs to go to war, fight as hard as any trial hardened adult has ever had to fight, and pray for another miracle. His chances are better than most in his situation, and even better if he maintains a war footing even when the news is not good. This campaign is to help keep Austin and his family uplifted, upbeat, and focused on beating the disease.
