Hi there, my name is Jasmine and I’ve set up this page on behalf of my best friend of many years, Jess.
Jess is 30 years old, a wife to Tony and a mother to 2 year old Freddie. She's a daughter, a sister, a friend - a general legend. She has also recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
I know what you're thinking - 'Oh, breast cancer. That's the super curable one! She'll be fine, right?'
Wrong. See, cancer can have this really cruel stealth where it develops in your body and decides to play hide and seek, seeing how many places it can hide until you find it.
Jess' breast cancer has been diagnosed as stage 4 (also known as metastatic). In other words, the cancer was discovered at its most advanced stage - it's so fucking stealthy that it's managed to spread from the breast to the lymph nodes and bones to boot.
The heart-breaking reality is that cancer of this hideous variety is incurable. Jess will struggle with cancer for the rest of her life.
The good news is that it IS treatable. There are many people who go through this diagnosis and lead long, prosperous lives. And if anyone has a fighting chance, it's our Jess.
This page is to raise money for Jess and her family for whatever it is they need. Whether it's a trip to the zoo, a snazzy new wig, help towards medical-related costs, a fund for Freddie's future - anything that eases the blow of the card they've been dealt.
