ANOTHER BABY SEPARATED FROM A PARENT
The separation of children from their parents due to ICE detention is heartbreakingly common. Yet for THIS family, it is unique and painfully life-altering. It is not someone else’s story. It is THEIR story.
*Yolanda tearfully tells how Manuel was driving his boss’s car while on a construction job in the District of Columbia (DC) and had an accident. He was told to appear in court on October 14, 2026 which he did. While at court he was apprehended by Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) agents.
He sat in a detention center in Louisiana for less than two weeks before being deported to Guatemala.
As Yolanda shares this story while their beautiful 9-month old baby sits nearby smiling and chattering happily; too young to fully understand how much his life has just changed. They share a small room in a small apartment with two other families and Yolanda worries about how they will stay there with their sole provider gone.
Your donation will help keep Yolanda and her baby in their very modest room while they make their way through this crisis and decide what to do. Yolanda and Manuel have barely been able to communicate and they have very difficult decisions to make about the future of their family.
This young couple had been raising their beautiful son together with hopes for his and their futures. It is now a frightening and uncertain time. Your donation will help them know that they are not alone, and help Yolanda take care of her son during this extremely difficult time.
